The Green Bay Packers were hit with a reality check on Thursday night, as they fell to the Detroit Lions by a score of 34-20.

It represented their first of two meetings with the Lions on the season, with the second coming on Thanksgiving.

Judging by the comments of Packers running back Aaron Jones after the game, Jones already has the next matchup marked on his calendar.

“Anytime it’s a North opponent, we want to show that we run the North and things like that,” said Jones, referring to the fact that Detroit is an NFC North division rival (via Ryan Wood of USA Today). “The good thing is we will have another opportunity to play those guys, and it will be on their home field on Thanksgiving. So I think our guys in this locker room will really get up for that game because we don’t like how that ended, or seeing them cheer at Lambeau on the sidelines. Different things like that, it just irked us, rubbed us the wrong way. But we’ll get back to work, and there’s a lot of time between now and that game, and we’ll be a better team by then.”

Jones returned to the field in Week 4 after missing the previous two games with a hamstring injury. He clearly was not 100 percent against the Lions, carrying the ball just five times for 18 yards.

Green Bay’s rushing attack as a whole was shut down by Detroit, as its running backs amassed a grand total of 29 yards on the evening.

In the two games Aaron Jones has played this season, he has totaled 59 yards on 14 rushing attempts. He has also added three catches for 83 yards and a touchdown.

The Packers fell to 2-2 with their loss to the Lions, dropping them to second place in the NFC North.

Green Bay will try to get back on track when it battles the Las Vegas Raiders next Monday.
