With the 2023 NFL season moving closer by the day, the Green Bay Packers are preparing to open up a new era of football. Aaron Rodgers is gone and with the New York Jets, which means that Jordan Love is now the starting quarterback. While many are excited about the change, there are major worries about how Love will produce as the starter.

Throughout Rodgers’ career, the Packers have been spoiled by arguably the most talented arm to ever throw the football. No one has worried about turnovers for years. Every single year, the Packers have been a legitimate threat to win a Super Bowl.

Love has the talent to keep those hopes and traditions alive, but there is very little tape of him showing that talent on the football field. Everyone is crossing their fingers with hope that he will be the next great quarterback in a long line for Green Bay.

One person who believes that Love has all the traits to be a special quarterback is quarterback’s coach Tom Clements. Rodgers has been very vocal about how good of a coach Clements is and how much help he gave him along the way.

“He can throw the ball, number one. Which he needs to do in the NFL. He’s good athletic. He can move around, buy time. And he’s intelligent. He generally makes good decisions, and at this point just needs to play, work on processing information, making good decisions, and getting it to the right guy. He has all the qualities you’re looking for in a guy to be successful.”

Clements went on to discuss how Love’s impressive performance late in the 2022 season against the Eagles could help him moving forward.

“I’m sure that helped his confidence. It helped the confidence of guys around him, and he’s just got to build on that.”

Speaking of the “guys around him,” Love has garnered a lot of praise from his teammates. Among the most vocal has been star running back Aaron Jones, who doesn’t think the Packers are going to skip a beat without Rodgers.

Only time will tell how good Jordan Love ends up becoming for the Packers. However, having a coach with the resume that Clements have talk like this about him gives Green Bay fans a lot of hope.

Expect to hear a lot of knee-jerk reactions come Week 1 and Week 2. But, Love should be given at least two or three full years as the starter before anyone truly makes any kind of final grade on what he can be as the Packers’ starter.
