Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander was thoroughly impressed with the effort of rookie corner Carrington Valentine on Sunday during the Packers’ 20-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

After the game, Alexander sang Valentine’s praises.

“Man, 37 played like a top-tier corner in the league and it’s exciting to see,” said Alexander, according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. “He will continue to do that because that’s the standard now. … I can’t be more happy to play alongside somebody like that.”

Valentine was starting in place of Rasul Douglas, who was traded to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a third-round draft pick ahead of the NFL trade deadline last Tuesday.

The 22-year-old logged a couple of tackles and three passes defended in the victory.

Valentine, who played his collegiate football at the University of Kentucky, was selected by Green Bay in the seventh round of the NFL Draft back in the spring.

He has played in eight games this season, registering 15 tackles.

Valentine spent three years at Kentucky, amassing a grand total of 87 tackles, a pair of sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and 16 passes defended during his time at the school.

The Packers snapped a four-game losing streak with their win over the Rams, holding Los Angeles to just 187 yards of total offense. Green Bay also dominated time of possession, holding the ball for over 35 minutes while LA was at 24:44.

Jaire Alexander himself finished with seven tackles and two passes defended on the afternoon.

The Packers improved to 3-5 with the victory and will look to build on it when they head on the road to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers next weekend.
