When the Green Bay Packers took quarterback Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Aaron Rodgers was still under center for the club.

That meant Love knew he was going to have to wait a while to get a real opportunity.

Well, last offseason, the Packers traded Rodgers to the New York Jets, opening the door for Love to start for the team in 2023.

During an appearance on the Thanalysis Show with Milwaukee Bucks player Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Love discussed his time with Rodgers and said that the two signal-callers developed a nice bond.

“We have a great relationship,” Love said. “Obviously, I was in the quarterback room with him. When you’re in that room together you’re there every day for multiple hours a day so you build a relationship with everyone in that room. We have a good relationship, and like you said, the comparisons are always going to happen.”

Love enjoyed a spectacular year in his first season as Green Bay’s starting quarterback, throwing for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 64.2 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 96.1.

Over the last eight games of the regular season, Love totaled 18 passing touchdowns and just one pick. He led the Packers to a 6-2 record during that span, propelling them to a playoff appearance.

Love then went on to lead Green Bay to a Wild Card Round win over the Dallas Cowboys before ultimately falling to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round.

Clearly, the time Love spent under Aaron Rodgers’ tutelage was incredibly beneficial for him, and he put what he learned into action in 2023, particularly in the second half of the year.

Now, the Packers have their obvious quarterback of the future, representing the next in a long line of great signal-callers in franchise history.

We’ll see what Jordan Love can do for an encore next season.
