Green Bay Packers: 3 Key Matchups vs the Washington Redskins

Packers Wide Receivers vs. Washington Secondary

Washington is currently the proud owner of the number one passing defense in the NFL. Now, that could be due to a myriad of reasons. Neither one of their previous opponents, the Colts and the Cardinals, are necessarily offensive powerhouses right now. Washington also has a good secondary, led by Josh Norman and DJ Swearinger.

The Jordy Nelson-less Packers receiver group is going to have to get open on Sunday. The talent in the secondary is real and the receivers could easily be bottled up if they don’t come into this game with the right mindset. The linebackers underneath are fast and instinctive as well.

Fortunately, for the Packers, they have a bevy of mismatches that they can deploy to get their offense going. Between Davante Adams, Geronimo Allison, Randall Cobb, Jimmy Graham, Jamal Williams, Ty Montgomery, and Aaron Jones (did I forget anyone?), there is a number of weapons for Aaron Rodgers to spread the ball to. However, if the secondary is able to elevate their play and cover up these receivers, there is a legitimate chance the Washington pass rush will swallow up Rodgers.
