Packers Named Best Trade Destination For Titans’ Derrick Henry

The Tennessee Titans have gotten off to a 2-4 start this season, most recently falling to the Baltimore Ravens by a score of 24-16 in a pivotal AFC South matchup this past Sunday. Due to their unstable situation at quarterback, the Titans are not viewed as contenders, which has led to some wondering if they could potentially move star running back Derrick Henry. One team who has been connected is the Green Bay Packers.

Tennessee was unable to reach a long-term agreement with Henry before the season, meaning that the veteran will get the chance to walk via free agency in the offseason.

Given that the Titans may very well be going into rebuilding mode, it wouldn’t make much sense for them to hand out an expensive contract to Henry.

Should Tennessee put Henry on the trade block ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL deadline, Eric Smithling of Yardbarker notes that the Green Bay Packers should take a look.

It’s hard to argue with Smithling.

The Packers have been having significant issues with their backfield, as Aaron Jones has been in and out of the lineup due to a hamstring injury and AJ Dillon has been underwhelming. Green Bay ranks 28th in the league in rushing offense, so adding Henry would make a lot of sense.

Of course, the Titans play in a very winnable division, so they are very much alive in the playoff hunt. While it seems hard to imagine Tennessee eclipsing the Jacksonville Jaguars or even the Colts in the AFC South, it may also be difficult to convince the club to throw in the towel so soon.

That being said, if the Titans evaluate their current situation and feel like they aren’t prepared to make a serious playoff push, they could very well opt to move Derrick Henry, who has been a member of the team ever since he entered the NFL back in 2016.
