Aaron Rodgers
The Green Bay Packers ride or die with Aaron Rodgers. Arguably the best quarterback in the league, Rodgers can single-handedly carry weaker Packers teams to the playoffs. That’s what a top-tier quarterback will do. That’s why they are such a valuable commodity.
Rodgers only started seven games in 2017, which is the least amount of games he has started since Brett Favre left. In those seven games, Green Bay was 4-3. In the other nine games, Green Bay was 3-6. To be fair to Rodgers, one of his losses was when he got knocked out by the Vikings.
He is absolutely vital to the success of Green Bay as any Packer fan can attest, and after a full offseason to get healthy, he is assuredly going to be ready to put 2017 behind him.
In addition to being healthy, the six-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro will be returning to a different offense. Gone is Edgar Bennett and in is former Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin who is making his second stint in Wisconsin. Philbin oversaw the initial rise of Rodgers from 2007 to 2011 when he threw for 131 touchdowns and only 37 interceptions.
The makeup of the offense will also be different with familiar face Jordy Nelson gone. Instead, Green Bay now features tight ends Jimmy Graham and Marcedes Lewis coming. With Davante Adams and Randall Cobb in the one and two spot, Rodgers is not devoid of a playmaker this year. While the beauty of having an Aaron Rodgers is that he makes players around him better, it is nice to see him surrounded by more skilled players.
