Dud: Backup Offensive Line
The entire backup offensive line unit was terrible. There is no other way to put it. The unit was so bad it has severely raised levels of concern heading into the regular season. Now, granted, this group of five offensive linemen will probably not play together at any point during the regular season. But, they were really bad.
One player who performed especially poorly is offensive tackle Kyle Murphy. It did not matter who lined up across from the third-year pro. Murphy was expected to take a big step forward this year and become a key depth fill for this offensive line unit. He was sufficient through the first two games, but his poor performance against the Raiders might make head coach Mike McCarthy look elsewhere to fulfill that backup tackle role.
This is going to be something to monitor in the coming weeks. None of these backup guys should feel like they have a roster spot locked up heading into the regular season. Luckily for them, McCarthy is loyal to his offensive lineman. That loyalty will definitely be put to the test when the time for final cuts arrives.
