The Green Bay Packers have suddenly re-inserted themselves back into the NFC playoff picture, and much of that is thanks to the improved play of quarterback Jordan Love.
Love has guided the Packers to three straight wins, most recently leading the club to a victory over the Kansas City Chiefs this past weekend.
Green Bay defensive back Keisean Nixon has been thrilled with Love’s progression and expressed his support for the youngster this week.
“12 gave him the key, and (expletive), he driving the Porsche now,” Nixon said, referring to former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic).
Green Bay originally took Love with the 26th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, but he spent the first three years of his career backing up Rodgers.
Rodgers and the Packers finally parted ways after he spent 15 seasons as the squad’s starting quarterback, with Green Bay trading the signal-caller to the New York Jets in a blockbuster deal back in the spring.
Love’s first season as the Packers’ full-time quarterback has certainly been a roller-coaster ride.
The 24-year-old got off to a solid start, leading Green Bay to a 2-1 start. During that span, he threw seven touchdowns and just one interception. He then endured a miserable stretch over his next six games, totaling seven touchdowns and nine picks.
However, Love has turned things around in recent weeks, amassing eight touchdowns with no interceptions in three straight Packers wins.
On the season overall, the Utah State product has thrown for 2,866 yards, 22 touchdowns and 10 picks while completing 61.3 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 90.2.
Green Bay is 6-6 and will battle the New York Jets next Monday.
