The Baltimore Ravens unexpectedly found themselves in some headlines recently. Their former wide receiver, Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown took a shot at his old team when speaking about the state of his current team, the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals are under a new regime this year with Monti Ossenfort taking over the front office and Jonathan Gannon being pegged as head coach. Many are projecting 2023 to be a tough season in the desert as they make the transition.

Despite those projections, Brown is confident that his team will be able to get the job done. He actually believes that he is going to get more done on the field than he did during his tenure with the Ravens.

“Not really. I mean, I played in Baltimore,” Brown said. “I played in Baltimore, so I’ve been in it. When I met with these guys and they told me their philosophies and their thought process, I was like, OK, I can work with it, and this is something that we need as a team, and we can thrive in.”

There were rumors floating around that Brown wasn’t a fan of the run-heavy offense that the Ravens ran, which led to him being traded to the Cardinals last season. Brown and a third-round pick was traded to Arizona in exchange for a first-round pick, which was used on cornerback Kaiir Elam.

Brown is also close to Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, who is working his way back from an ACL tear. Despite that, he is confident that Colt McCoy can find success on the field.

While the run-first offense the Ravens ran in the past may have been something Brown didn’t like, he is certainly missing out now. Not only are the Cardinals in a tough spot but Baltimore’s offensive game plan has been revamped.

With Greg Roman no longer the offensive coordinator, as Todd Monken is taking over the position, the Ravens’ offense is expected to become more modern with more passes. Their offseason moves hint at that kind of move being made as this isn’t going to be the same Ravens offense Brown was used to.
