The Philadelphia Eagles have given edge rusher Haason Reddick permission to seek a trade, and Brad Spielberger of Pro Football Focus views the Houston Texans as a potential destination.
Spielberger suggests that the Texans send a second-round draft pick to the Eagles in exchange for Reddick, who apparently became dissatisfied with his role during the second half of 2023.
Reddick is coming off of a season in which he racked up 38 tackles and 11 sacks en route to his second straight Pro Bowl appearance, but he logged just 2.5 sacks over his final seven games.
The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Temple, was originally selected by the Arizona Cardinals with the 13th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.
He was a major disappointment over his first three seasons, amassing a grand total of 7.5 sacks. However, in 2020, Reddick broke out, registering 63 tackles, 12.5 sacks and six forced fumbles.
That ensuing offseason, Reddick signed with the Carolina Panthers, where he spent one year and posted 68 tackles, 11 sacks, a couple of forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
Reddick then proceeded to join the Eagles in March 2022.
His debut campaign in Philadelphia was the most impressive season of his career, as he rattled off 49 tackles, 16 sacks, five forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
The Camden, N.J. native got off to another spectacular start this year, but tailed off during the second half, much like the Eagles did as a team.
The Texans recorded a very respectable 46 sacks in 2023, but they could still afford to add another pass rusher to their repertoire, especially with all of the cap space they have.
We’ll see if Houston does in fact make a play for Reddick in the coming weeks and months.
