Los Angeles Rams
Perhaps the team most negatively impacted by the Seattle Seahawks adding Jamal Adams is the Los Angeles Rams. They are expected by many experts to undergo a bounce-back season, but it now will be even more difficult to compete in the NFC West in 2020.
From a head-to-head standpoint, the Rams will surely rely on the passing game to set the tone this season. Both Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp will be healthy and having them both on the field at the same time was a struggle in 2019.
An area where Adams will bring a boost in matchups with the Rams that may go under-discussed is through pass-rush sequences. The Seahawks currently lack a strong combination of impact pass-rushers and being able to get creative with Adams on passing downs will surely help.
No longer having prime Todd Gurley already resulted in lesser results in the ground game for the Rams. Now, not having him on the roster altogether will not help matters and against the Seahawks, Adams will help wreck havoc as a run stopper.
From a big picture standpoint, the Rams bought into the short-term being their window to contend by making plenty of win-now moves in recent years. They appear to be behind the San Francisco 49ers and Seahawks with the Arizona Cardinals on the rise, and that’s troublesome.
