Devin Funchess, Wide Receiver

Coming into the offseason, many thought the Packers would end up getting either Robby Anderson or Emmanuel Sanders. Anderson was the popular choice, but he was too expensive. Even Breshad Perriman was brought up as an option before Funchess was talked about.

When everything was said and done, however, the Packers decided to go with the cheaper option.

Standing in at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Funchess will give Rodgers a massive target. He can make plays with his athleticism down the field and in the red zone. Funchess was much more productive in Carolina than many give him credit for.

Funchess will have a chance to earn the No. 2 wide receiver job across from Davante Adams. Assuming he plays up to his potential, Funchess is going to take a lot of pressure off of Adams and Rodgers. He should be a very solid addition for the offense.

Gutekunst will likely add another wide receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft. But, even if he doesn’t add one early in the draft as expected, Funchess could be the missing piece. It would be reasonable to expect around 50 receptions for 650 yards and six touchdowns.

If he can swing those numbers, the Packers are going to have a much more dangerous offense.
