Indianapolis Colts: 3 Bold Predictions for Andrew Luck in 2018

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

He Throws for 4,000 Yards and 40+ Touchdowns

Luck has only accomplished the feat of 4,000 yards and 40 touchdowns once in his career. It came in 2014 when he passed for 4,761 yards and 40 touchdowns on the dot.

I think it will happen again this season due to a few reasons.

First off, Luck will be taking snaps behind the best offensive line he’s had in his entire NFL career. Colts general manager Chris Ballard addressed one of the Colts longtime problems this offseason by drafting an offensive lineman in each of the first two rounds, Quenton Nelson and Braden Smith, and signing two longtime NFL starters, Matt Slauson and Austin Howard. The Colts will now deploy an offensive line with plenty of talent and potential.

Secondly, the Colts finally moved on from former head coach Chuck Pagano over the offseason. New head coach Frank Reich and offensive coordinator Nick Sirriani will bring a much more up-tempo offense to Indianapolis that focuses on getting the ball out of Luck’s hands quickly. Luck has always been in a system looking for the deep ball and putting him in harms way. That will no longer be the case as the Colts offense will be much more creative and productive.

Lastly, Luck has plenty of targets this season. His favorites targets T.Y. Hilton and Jack Doyle are still in town and ready to get their quarterback back. Also returning is Chester Rogers, who has shown plenty of potential when healthy. Newcomers include massive tight end Eric Ebron and wide receivers Deon Cain, Ryan Grant, and Daurice Fountain. The Colts are expected to use Ebron and Doyle heavily, which could end up as one of the top tight end duos in the league.

Andrew Luck has many factors in his favor that he just simply hasn’t had in the past.

I think the combination of the new coaching staff, the revamped offensive line, and his young targets make for a scenario in which Luck surpasses 4,000 yards and 40 touchdowns.
