Indianapolis Colts: 3 Players Facing a Make or Break Season

Thomas J. Russo-USA TODAY Sports

Hassan Ridgeway, Defensive Tackle

Ridgeway was selected by the Colts in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL draft out of Texas. He appeared in all 16 games his rookie season and appeared in 13 games last season.

Many were excited about Ridgeway coming to Indianapolis but he hasn’t quite produced in the NFL. He has just 35 tackles and 4.5 sacks during his two seasons in Indianapolis. The Colts were in a 3-4 scheme his first two seasons, which may be part of the reason why he hasn’t produced.

Ridgeway must find a role early on in 2018 or he could find himself on the outside looking in. He’s only 23 and did have three sacks from the interior last season, but he’s going to have to do more with how much depth and talent the Colts have up front on defense. Ridgeway has been quiet through the beginning of camp for the Colts, but he has been going against sixth overall pick Quenton Nelson and defensive tackles aren’t typically talked about much anyways.

Ridgeway has enough talent to be a starter on the interior of the Colts defensive line, but time is ticking for him to showcase that talent.
