The Colts Have the Money to Sign Mack Long-Term
The only reason a Khalil Mack to Indianapolis Colts trade is possible is if Mack is willing to commit to Indy long-term and if the Colts are willing to pay Mack what he feels he’s worth.
Mack was selected fifth overall in the 2014 NFL draft out of Buffalo. He’s been to the Pro Bowl three straight seasons, has two first-team All-Pro appearances, and won Defensive Player of the Year in 2016.
In four seasons, Mack hasn’t missed a game and has accumulated 304 tackles, 40.5 sacks, 11 pass deflections, nine forced fumbles, and one interception. Those are incredible numbers and the durability Mack has shown is impressive as well.
It’s likely a team would have to give up a first-round pick, mid-round pick, and another pick or player in order for the Raiders to even consider a trade. Also, it’s important the Colts would be willing to pay Mack the $20 million a year he wants in his new contract. The Colts will have nearly $100 million in cap space next offseason.
Mack to Indianapolis makes perfect sense, as long as both sides want to be in a long-term relationship. Mack would instantly make the Colts defense more productive and the Colts would instantly make Mack very wealthy.
