Indianapolis Colts: 3 Reasons Why Chester Rogers Will Break Out in 2018

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

He’s finally healthy, and so is Andrew Luck

The main reason Rogers hasn’t broken through yet is a hamstring injury that took a chunk of his 2017 season away. Rogers once again turned heads all summer and all camp but then suffered a hamstring injury in the preseason that he just wasn’t able to shake off. When he returned, he wasn’t quite the same.

Now he’s healthy and on a different path.

“There was definitely stuff I could’ve done better,” Rogers said in regards to 2017.

“I just have to learn to take care of my body in different ways. With a lot of soft tissue injuries, you have to recover. I don’t think I was on top of it as much as I should’ve been.”

Also, now healthy is quarterback Andrew Luck. The three-time pro-bowler is officially back in action and has steadily improved since returning. Much of receivers success comes from how good their quarterback is and if they trust them. Rogers and Luck have certainly built chemistry and trust together, both on the field and off. They spent much of their time together in the training room last season and it has resulted in an improved relationship. Rogers has been around with Luck for three years now and even went to California to work out with Luck this offseason.

A healthy and motivated Chester Rogers has all the tools to break out in 2018.
