Trade speculation has been swirling around Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams over the past couple of weeks. One team that has come up as a potential landing spot is the Indianapolis Colts.
Following the Raiders’ ugly Week 3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Adams criticized the club’s organizational culture and said that he does not have much time to wait around.
Las Vegas then went on to lose yet again in Week 4, falling to the Los Angeles Chargers by a score of 24-17. Adams injured his shoulder in the defeat, but he returned in the second half.
The Raiders initially acquired Adams in a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers back in March 2022 and were expected to take a major step that ensuing season. Instead, Las Vegas went just 6-11, and through the first four weeks of 2023, it has gone 1-3 and doesn’t seem to be improving.
Because Adams is under contract through 2026, the Raiders have no real reason to trade him, but if he demands to be dealt, Las Vegas may have no choice but to move the superstar.
Mike Roberts of Last Word On Sports feels that the Colts would be a perfect landing spot for Adams, as young quarterback Anthony Richardson is in need of a true No. 1 wide out.
The Colts have gotten off to a 2-2 start this season and play in the very winnable AFC South, so bringing in a talent like Adams could make all the difference between a division title and missing the playoffs.
Adams’ presence would allow Michael Pittman Jr. to become the club’s No. 2 receiver, which is probably the more suitable role for Pittman.
Davante Adams has been busy over the first quarter of the season, logging 33 catches for 397 yards and three touchdowns. In his first season in Vegas last year, the 30-year-old hauled in 100 receptions for 1,516 yards while leading the league with 14 receiving touchdowns.
