Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson had a rather unfortunate rookie campaign.

The youngster suffered a concussion in Week 2, which knocked him out for Week 3. Then, in Week 5, he sustained a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the season and resulted in surgery.

But the good news is that Richardson seems to be making great headway going into 2024.

“He’s been here, he’s been in Florida doing his rehab,” said Colts head coach Shane Steichen, via Kevin Hickey of Colts Wire. “But he’s making great progress. You guys have seen obviously through social media, he’s throwing. I’m not going to put a timetable on his return, but he’s in great spirits, feeling good. Obviously, going through stuff but he’s making really, really good progress.”

Richardson, who played his collegiate football at the University of Florida, was selected by Indianapolis with the fourth overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft.

In the four games he played during his debut season, he showed flashes of brilliance, throwing for 577 yards, three touchdowns and interception while completing 59.5 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 87.3. In addition, he rushed for 136 yards and four scores while averaging 5.4 yards per carry.

Indianapolis managed to win nine games and contend for a playoff spot with Gardner Minshew under center, as Minshew totaled 3,305 yards, 15 touchdowns and nine picks while completing 62.2 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 84.6 en route to a Pro Bowl selection.

In spite of Minshew’s impressive play, the Colts are clearly committed to Anthony Richardson moving forward, so it will be interesting to see how Indianapolis continues to try and build around him this offseason.
