Michael Pittman Jr. is clearly the Indianapolis Colts‘ No. 1 wide receiver, but you wouldn’t know it based on his comments after the team’s Week 7 loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Pittman was not happy about his usage this past Sunday, as he logged just two catches for 83 yards and a touchdown. He was targeted five times.

“They just didn’t target me today, for whatever reason,” said Pittman, via Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star. “Maybe I’m not a big part of the offense. … It was frustrating. I was frustrated. I was just trying to keep my composure to myself and not try to project that onto anybody else.”

One of Pittman’s two grabs did end up in a 75-yard score, but obviously, he feels that he should have gotten more opportunities for some game-breaking plays, saying that he is “just trying to show the coaches that I’m out there, too.”

Rookie wide out Josh Downs led the Colts with five receptions for 125 yards and a score, but to be fair to Indianapolis, Downs was only targeted one more time than Pittman.

As a matter of fact, Pittman drew the second-most targets on the team during the loss, with running back Jonathan Taylor coming in third with four targets.

Pittman has far and away been Indy’s most utilized receiver this season, as he has been targeted 65 times through the first seven games. The next closest would be Downs, who has been targeted on 47 occasions.

Perhaps Pittman was just frustrated on Sunday in particular, which ended in a 39-38 loss for his club. It marked the Colts’ second straight defeat and their third in four games.

Overall, Michael Pittman Jr. has caught 42 passes for 489 yards and a couple of touchdowns this year.

Indianapolis is 3-4 and will aim to get back on track when it takes on the New Orleans Saints this weekend.
