Indianapolis Colts: Studs and Duds From Preseason Week 2

Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

Dud: Nyheim Hines

During training camp, Nyheim Hines gathered a ton of traction as a guy who could play a big role for the Colts in 2018 as a rookie. After two preseason games, Hines looks nearly unplayable and could be a surprise cut.

Hines has fumbled an astonishing four times in just two preseason games. He also fumbled another time in the Colts first preseason game but the play was ruled dead before the ball came out.

Most of Hines struggles have been in the return game, so maybe the Colts will just opt to take him out of special teams and showcase him strictly on offense. He provides a unique ability to play running back and also line up as a receiver in the slot and out wide.

I don’t necessarily think Hines will be cut, but it appears as if the Colts may need to move on from him as a returner.
