Insane Clutch Stat Surfaces About Bengals QB Joe Burrow

In many lists ranking current NFL quarterbacks from best to worst, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is usually among the top five names listed.

Most lists put Patrick Mahomes at the No. 1 spot for good reason, and then the next two names are usually Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson.

Before his most recent wrist injury, Burrow could see his name up near the top three quarterbacks, but since then, his name has gone down the list a little bit.

However, with this stat regarding Burrow’s clutch gene, some NFL analysts may start to include him in those higher-tier rankings again.

Joe Burrow ranks as the best clutch quarterback in the NFL since 2021

Per PFF’s grading scale, Joe Burrow ranked as the No. 1 quarterback in the NFL since 2021 in one specific statistic that will cause most NFL fans to raise their eyebrows in shock.

Since 2021, Burrow has been the highest-graded passer in one-score games with a 91.4 PFF Grade.

While Burrow’s career with the Bengals has been riddled with heartbreaking injuries, the former Heisman-winning quarterback can almost always be counted on when the Bengals need him, and that’s a statement backed by this statistic.

It helps that Burrow has his LSU teammate Ja’Marr Chase running routes as the Bengals’ top receiver, but when push comes to shove and the Bengals need production from the quarterback position late in winnable games, Burrow has been one of the top quarterbacks that a team can count on—at least when this statistic is taken into consideration.

The Bengals head into a crucial season this year in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL currently, and with Burrow returning from a wrist injury that sidelined him for seven games, it was apparent that the Bengals needed their clutch quarterback, as Cincinnati finished last in the AFC North, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2021.

The Bengals still managed to win nine games in 2023, which is a testament to just how good their roster is overall. However, it was blatantly obvious that Joe Burrow’s absence prevented them from reaching the playoffs. It didn’t help Cincy that every team within its division had a winning record, too.

We’ll see if the Bengals can generate some better results in 2024.
