Jacksonville Jaguars: 3 Bold Predictions for Blake Bortles in 2018

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Blake Bortles has been called many things during his NFL career, including but not limited to: “Trash” by Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and a “subpar QB” by former Seahawks safety Earl Thomas. Oddly enough, both of those comments came after a Jaguars victory. And don’t even get Jaguars fans started on Jurrell Casey.

Despite this negativity around the league, Bortles led his team within a quarter of the Super Bowl. Jaguars brass rewarded Bortles with a shiny new three-year, $54 million deal in February.

The Jaguars not only rewarded Bortles’ bank account, they went out and invested in the offense surrounding their QB. Jags’ management signed All-Pro guard Andrew Norwell, wide receiver Dante Moncrief, and tight end Austin Sefarian-Jenkins in free agency. Jacksonville also drafted speedy wide receiver DJ Chark from LSU, who has lit it up in training camp thus far.

Bortles is returning from rehabbing a nagging wrist that ailed him throughout the 2017 season as well. Good performances in the playoffs last season and solid play in training camp, has given me tentative hope entering 2018. It’s time to double down on that hope and make some bold predictions for the upcoming season.
