Heading into the 2024 NFL offseason, the Jacksonville Jaguars had a few clear needs. They were aggressive in free agency looking to address some of them.

A focus during free agency was in the trenches. The Jacksonville Jaguars upgraded on both the offensive and defensive lines, signing Arik Armstead and Mitch Morse away from the San Francisco 49ers and Buffalo Bills. Three draft picks were also used on linemen.

The team also revamped their wide receiver depth chart. Calvin Ridley departed in free agency, signing with the Tennessee Titans. Taking his place will be Gabe Davis, Devin Duvernay and 2024 first-round pick, Brian Thomas Jr.

With training camp just a few weeks away, the Jacksonville Jaguars look to be pretty strong on both ends of the ball. However, there is still one area of concern; the secondary.

The team struggled last season against the pass, ranking 26th in yards allowed and 25th in passing touchdowns. An improved pass rush will help get those numbers down, but the team’s secondary also needs some work.

In free agency, they signed safeties Darnell Savage Jr. and Terrell Edmunds. Veteran cornerback Tre Flowers was also signed, but more help could be used.

If recent betting odds shared by BetOnline are a sign of things to come, more help could be on the way. They have listed the Jacksonville Jaguars as the favorites to sign five-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, Stephon Gilmore.

Gilmore is one of the best free agents still available heading into the summer. He was solid for the Dallas Cowboys last season, proving he has plenty left in the tank.

Last season, he started all 17 games for Dallas, playing 94 percent of the defensive snaps. He recorded a career-high 68 tackles and had 13 passes defended, his highest total since 2019 when he took home the Defensive Player of the Year award.

Relying on him as a No. 1 corner may be stretching him a little too much, but Gilmore is still a solid, dependable starter. Adding him opposite of Tyson Campbell would help take this defensive unit to another level.
