Jadeveon Clowney Reveals Thoughts About Browns’ Super Bowl Hopes

EDGE defender Jadeveon Clowney has been a bit of a mercenary for the last few years of his career. From 2018-2021, he played for a different franchise each season, going from the Houston Texans to the Seattle Seahawks, followed by a stop with the Tennessee Titans before joining the Cleveland Browns.

But, that streak will end in 2022, as Clowney re-signed with the Browns this offseason and will be running it back with them. He had a strong bounceback season in 2021, registering nine sacks with 19 quarterback hits and 11 tackles for loss.

Playing opposite of Myles Garrett certainly helps, as many game plans focus on slowing him down. But, you have to still take advantage of those opportunities and Clowney did. It made a lot of sense for him to return to the same role in 2022.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft recently spoke more about why he returned to Cleveland. He has some high aspirations for the team in 2022, as he is looking to win a Super Bowl.

“I just want to chase that Super Bowl,” Clowney told the Browns’ website. “I think we’ve got a shot at it. We had a great defense last year. We went out and got some more key players on offense and defense, and I feel like we’ve got a shot. I wouldn’t want to do it on another team than the one I played with last year. . . . I know what we can do together, just hoping we can take the next step forward and get where we can get.”

Ownership and the front office have a similar feeling as Clowney. They acquired Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans to help bolster their offense despite his legal issues off the field not being resolved.

Expectations are high in Cleveland as they were unable to build off of the momentum they built during the playoffs of the 2020 season. They defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card game before giving the Kansas City Chiefs all they could handle in the Divisional Round.

The Browns missed the playoffs altogether last season, but they are looking to get back on track in 2022. Clowney and the defense will certainly be up to the task again, as Cleveland has a chance to bounce back in a big way this upcoming season.
