The New York Jets improved to 5-2 on the season with their victory over the Denver Broncos last weekend. Unfortunately for them, the victory ended up feeling like a loss as rookie running back Breece Hall injured his knee. The Jets were expecting the worst and their nightmare came true as Hall was diagnosed with a torn ACL.

It is a huge blow for the offense as Hall was taking over as the team’s featured back the last few weeks. Hall ends his rookie season with 80 carries for 463 yards and four touchdowns, adding 19 receptions for 218 yards and another score. The dual-threat ability that made Hall the No. 1 running back prospect in this year’s draft class was on full display as he was a dynamic threat for Gang Green’s offense.

Without him, Michael Carter will get a chance to re-establish himself as the team’s lead back. But, he will have some competition as the Jets wasted no time filling the void left by Hall’s injury. New York acquired running back James Robinson from the Jacksonville Jaguars for a conditional sixth-round pick

The writing was on the wall for Robinson in Jacksonville as they had an emerging running back of their own in Travis Etienne. While the Jaguars said that knee soreness attributed to Robinson not getting on the field much in Week 7 against the New York Giants, he felt that he could go back in the game.

To complete the trade, Robinson passed his physical with the Jets as well, so Jacksonville very well could have known they were eventually going to part ways with Robinson and didn’t want him to get hurt further. Regardless of what happened, he is now part of the Jets and excited about the opportunity ahead.

“I love the vibe,” Robinson said, via the team’s website. “There’s a lot of guys that want to win and I can see that. At practice, I can see that, too. It feels pretty good, I’ll tell you, to go to 5-2 from 2-5.”

There is a chance that Robinson is out there for New York this weekend when they host the New England Patriots at MetLife Stadium. Last week we saw Christian McCaffrey suit up for the San Francisco 49ers despite arriving to the team on Friday.

Robinson joined the team multiple days before that and has been able to get some practice time in. While it may not be a full allotment of snaps, expect Robinson to get some run as the Jets look to bury their divisional rivals.
