Jarvis Landry Could End Up Signing With Eagles In Free Agency?

It was not too long ago that Jarvis Landry was arguably the best slot receiver in the NFL. He is as tough as nails, doing all of the dirty work in the middle of the field. Whether it is a tough first-down conversion or mixing things up in the running game, you could count on Jarvis Landry to get the job done.

Unfortunately, in the last few seasons, injuries have derailed him. Jarvis Landry appeared in only nine games this season with the New Orleans Saints, producing career-low statistics across the board. He caught only 25 passes for 272 yards and one touchdown.

His production started trending downward in 2021 when he played in 15 games for the Cleveland Browns, catching 52 passes for 570 yards and two touchdowns. Last offseason, Jarvis Landry sought a big contract but settled for a one-year deal with his hometown Saints. This offseason, he could be in for another one-year deal given how difficult the 2022 season was.

Despite the lack of production, Jarvis Landry is a veteran that is looked at as possessing quality leadership skills. He should be able to fetch at least a one-year prove-it deal this offseason and the Philadelphia Eagles would be an intriguing landing spot for him.

The Eagles already have their starters locked in place. DeVonta Smith was selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft and the team pulled off a blockbuster to acquire A.J. Brown during the 2022 NFL Draft. Adding Jarvis Landry to the mix could take the offense to another level.

Jarvis Landry would provide the team with someone that could dominate on underneath and short routes over the middle of the field with Smith and Brown running rampant on the perimeter. When you add in the presence of tight end Dallas Goedert, Jalen Hurts would have one of the best skill position groups around him.

Landing in Philadelphia would be a best-case scenario for Jarvis Landry. He would have a chance to boost his stock on a prove-it deal in a friendly offensive environment. It wouldn’t get much better than playing a key role for a team that is expecting to contend for the Super Bowl.
