Darron Lee, Linebacker
In addition to a strong offensive performance, the Jets also looked great on the defensive side of the ball on Monday night. They intercepted five passes and roughed up Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, who threw four picks to finish one shy of his career high.
One of Detroit’s defensive standouts was linebacker Darron Lee, who picked off two passes in the contest. The big blow was his 36-yard pick-six during New York’s incredible third quarter, but he also finished with seven tackles (six solo) and three pass deflections.
Adding interceptions for the Jets were Jamal Adams, Trumaine Johnson and Morris Claiborne.
“We wanted to make sure we came out and made a statement in this game,” Lee said after the game, via the Associated Press.
The Jets certainly made a statement on Monday night. And it was received loud and clear.
