Jets’ Linebacker Quincy Williams A Major Pro Bowl Snub

Quincy Williams, Jets

The New York Jets didn’t provide their fans with as much excitement this year as they would have hoped. Once quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down with an Achilles injury in Week 1, their Super Bowl aspirations went out of the window.

It was a tough season for the Jets, who are 5-11 heading into their regular season finale against the New England Patriots. While the game doesn’t have any impact on the playoff picture, it is an important one for the standings and draft order.

If the Jets win the game, there is a chance they will fall outside of the top 10 and the Patriots could move up to No. 2. If New England wins, they will drop to as low as No. 7, while New York would remain at No. 8.

NFL News & Rumors: Quincy Williams, NFL Pro Bowl, New York Jets Updates

Given the lengthy losing streak the Jets have against the Patriots, they will have the motivation to win the game. You can expect a strong performance from the team’s defense as well, especially linebacker Quincy Williams.

Williams was one of the biggest snubs this season from the Pro Bowl rosters. The Jets have two players from their defense who made the team, cornerback Sauce Garnder and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, Quincy’s brother, but he deserves to be there as well.

Williams signed a three-year contract with the Jets this offseason and has quickly provided immense value. He is outperforming the deal he signed with some excellent statistics as one of the leaders on the team’s defense.

On the season, Williams has 131 total tackles, 91 of which are solo according to Pro Football Reference. He has added 2.0 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, four quarterback hits and five total pressures as he is getting the job done in every facet of the game.

Williams has one interception and 10 passes defended as well, as he gets the job done in the passing game, too. His 80.9 overall grade from PFF is ranked 8th out of 81 qualified players at the position. When combined with C.J. Mosely, who is ranked 9th, the Jets have arguably the best linebacker duo in the NFL.

While there is still a chance Williams will be added to the roster as some players will inevitably drop out, he deserved to be on the initial list. While the Jets haven’t performed well overall this season, he should have been recognized for his high level of play throughout the 2023 regular season.
