The New York Jets have revamped their wide receiver depth chart this offseason. And, from the sounds of it, they are not yet done. The way things are trending, the only wide receiver from last season’s team that may be taking the field for New York in 2023 is reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year, Garret Wilson.

The Jets waived Braxton Berrios earlier this offseason and there have been rumors swirling that Corey Davis could be released as well. The team also traded Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns, fulfilling the trade request that he made last year after originally denying it ahead of the deadline in November.

In their places, the Jets have made some nice upgrades. They landed arguably the best wide receiver available this offseason in Allen Lazard, signing him to a four-year, $44 million deal. He will provide a boost as an improving receiver but also an elite blocker in the running game.

Another addition that the Jets made was signing Mecole Hardman, formerly of the Kansas City Chiefs. He adds a speed element to the team’s offense and should slide right into the third or fourth receiver spot depending on what happens with Davis.

Alas, the team may not be done reshaping that position. According to Jeff Darlington, mutual interest exists between the Jets and free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to get a deal done.

It is hard to see where Beckham fits into the mix currently, as he is seeking a lot more money than the Jets are capable of offering. However, he is reportedly one of the players that Aaron Rodgers had on his wish list for the team to pursue in free agency for him to join the team.

After missing the entire 2022 season because of ACL rehab, it is anyone’s guess what kind of production Beckham can provide. But, as a complementary player and not a savior for the offense, he could thrive, especially if Rodgers is the one throwing him passes.
