Kansas City Chiefs: 3 Bold Predictions for Patrick Mahomes in 2018

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

He Will Throw for 35+ Touchdowns

Facts are facts. Mahomes has an absolute cannon. During his pro day at Texas Tech, the former baseball player threw a 78-yard hail mary. In game or not, that is an impressive throw. Mahomes’ ability to launch the ball downfield combined with the burners he has to throw to is going to lead to an exciting offense to watch.

The Chiefs signed big-name wide receiver Sammy Watkins to a three-year deal worth $48 million in the offseason. Watkins joins arguably (not really, he is) the fastest player in the league in Tyreek Hill and also Chris Conley who posted a measly 4.35 40-yard dash at his combine performance. Let’s not forget tight end Travis Kelce, who is a threat in whichever way he chooses to be. Kelce can catch over the middle and make you miss, or blow by defenders and just hope Mahomes drops one in.

Second-year running back Kareem Hunt, who by the way was last year’s leading rusher, will also accompany Mahomes’ first year in control by taking some attention from defenders. Hunt has to be focused on by opposing defenses as he showed last year he can get it done on the ground. The Chiefs will spend a lot of time in the red zone this year, and I anticipate they have the most long-yardage touchdowns in the league. This offense has the ability to put up 30 points or more per game. Mahomes throws 35+touchdowns and breaks all-time great Len Dawson’s single-season team record.
