Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco has missed the last couple of games while recovering from shoulder surgery, but head coach Andy Reid provided a positive update on him this week.

“He’ll be good to go this week unless there’s further setback,’’ Reid said, via Adam Teicher of ESPN. “Right now, everything’s positive for him to go and he really had a clearance last week from the fellow that did the surgery to go, so it was just a matter of being [cautious] on it.’’

So, apparently, Pacheco will be ready for the Chiefs’ matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day.

In 12 games this season, Pacheco has rushed for 779 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 4.4 yards per carry. He has also caught 33 passes for 209 yards and a score.

Most recently, Pacheco carried the ball 18 times for 110 yards and a touchdown while logging three catches for 13 yards in a Week 13 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Rutgers, was selected by Kansas City in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

He appeared in every contest during his rookie campaign and was a pleasant surprise for the Chiefs, registering 830 yards and five touchdowns while recording 4.9 yards per tote. He also totaled 13 catches for 130 yards.

Kansas City’s rushing attack has suffered without Isiah Pacheco, as it tallied just 43 yards in its Week 15 win over the New England Patriots and finished with 82 yards on the ground in a Week 14 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The Chiefs improved to 9-5 with their victory against the Patriots this past Sunday. After battling the Raiders, they will move on to face the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Chargers to close out the regular season.
