Chris Jones and the Kansas City Chiefs are aiming to win their third straight Super Bowl, something that hat never been done before in the history of the NFL.

Jones re-signed with the Chiefs on a massive five-year, $159 million deal earlier this offseason for the chance to do this very thing, and he isn’t shy about Kansas City’s chances.

“We’ve got the team to do it,” Jones said, via Nate Taylor of The Athletic. “We have brief conversations about it, what it’s going to take, the work that’s required to even get into that position.”

It certainly won’t be easy.

Heck, winning the Super Bowl last year was definitely no cakewalk for the Chiefs, as they had a stretch during the middle of the season where they went just 3-5 and were looking very vulnerable.

But once the playoffs rolled around, Kansas City turned it on and won its second consecutive championship.

Jones rattled off 38 tackles and 10.5 sacks in 2023, making his fifth straight trip to the Pro Bowl while also earning his second consecutive First-Team All-Pro selection.

Who Will Challenge the Chiefs in 2024?

The Chiefs are the favorites to win the Super Bowl next season until someone beats them. That’s just how it is. But who has a legitimate shot of beating Kansas City in 2024?

Obviously, the No. 1 candidate is the San Francisco 49ers, whom the Chiefs beat in overtime in the Super Bowl this past February. The 49ers boast arguably the most talented roster in the NFL, and oddsmakers actually have them listed as the favorites to capture the title next winter.

Then, in the AFC, you have the Baltimore Ravens, who lost to Kansas City in last years’ AFC Championship Game. The question is, do they have the weapons to beat the Chiefs? The Ravens managed just 10 points in their loss to Kansas City in January, and they didn’t really address their receiving corps this offseason.

The Cincinnati Bengals are certainly threats, especially considering that they topped the Chiefs in the AFC Title Game three seasons ago. They went 9-8 and missed the playoffs in 2023, but that was largely due to Joe Burrow missing the last seven games with a wrist injury.

Could the Houston Texans take the next step after adding Stefon Diggs and Danielle Hunter? Can the Miami Dolphins conquer their cold-weather demons? Will Aaron Rodgers turn back the clock for the New York Jets?

Theoretically, lots of teams could be in the running, but the Chiefs really are a different animal.

We’ll see if Chris Jones and his squad show any signs of slowing down come September.
