Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones is instilling a sense of urgency into his team before the club’s Week 14 meeting with the Buffalo Bills.

“We can’t lose three out of four (games), or three out of five. It’s a critical situation for us – especially where we’re trying to be in the next few weeks,” Jones said, via the Chiefs’ official YouTube account. “We have to correct the errors, and we have to correct (them) fast.”

Well, as a matter of fact, Kansas City already has lost three of its last five games, and in those three losses, the Chiefs failed to crack 20 points each time.

It has been a strange year for the defending Super Bowl champions, as Kansas City has uncharacteristically struggled on the offensive end. The Chiefs are 8-4 and still hold a comfortable two-game lead in the AFC West division, but there is no doubt that they haven’t seemed themselves this season.

Jones has logged 24 tackles, 7.5 sacks and three passes defended in 11 games this year.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Mississippi State, was selected by Kansas City in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He had a rather uneventful rookie campaign, finishing with 28 tackles and two sacks. The following year, Jones showed some progression, totaling 32 tackles, 6.5 sacks, an interception and four forced fumbles.

In his third season, however, Jones broke out, racking up 40 tackles, 15.5 sacks, a pick, a couple of forced fumbles and five passes defended.

The Houston, Ms. native then went on to make four straight trips to the Pro Bowl between 2019 and 2022, with his best season during that span coming last year when he registered 44 tackles, 15.5 sacks, a pair of forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and four passes defended. He also earned a First-Team All-Pro selection for his efforts.

After battling the Bills, the Chiefs will face the New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Chargers to close out the regular season.
