As the Kansas City Chiefs navigated their way through the postseason, speculation mounted about the future of head coach Andy Reid.
Many wondered if Reid might choose to retire from the NFL after this season. However, it appears that such speculation may be premature.
In a recent interview with Chris Russo of Mad Dog Sports Radio, Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt disclosed that he plans to sit down with Reid after the season to discuss his intentions regarding his coaching career.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding Reid’s future, Hunt expressed confidence that Reid is not considering retirement from the league anytime soon.
“We have that conversation each off-season and so, you know, that’s a conversation we’ll have at the end of the year,” Hunt said. “But I’m not expecting him to retire. He loves what he’s doing. I know he’s energized by the team that he has. I know he loves coaching Patrick Mahomes. He’s got a generational quarterback. So, I look forward to having Andy as our head coach for many more years.”
While there remains a possibility that Reid could surprise the team and announce his retirement following this season, Hunt’s remarks suggest that the Chiefs organization anticipates Reid remaining at the helm not only for the upcoming season but for the foreseeable future as well.
Should Andy Reid choose to pull of a shocker and retire after the Super Bowl, rumors have been swirling that Bill Belichick could be the leading candidate to replace him for the Kansas City Chiefs.
