Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes Has High Praise For Tom Brady

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes just won his third Super Bowl, so people are already starting to put him in the greatest of all time conversation.

However, there is still one signal-caller who is miles ahead of him in terms of accolades: Tom Brady.

During his 23 NFL seasons, Brady won seven Super Bowl championships, which is a league record—by far. No other quarterback has won more than four, so Mahomes still has a long way to go to catch Brady.

Mahomes spoke about Brady on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, and the two-time MVP seemed flattered to be compared to Brady while also offering some major praise for the legend.

“I like it. He is the greatest of all time, and I like being compared to him, but I still have so long that I have to go in my career if you look at the longevity, the consistent greatness that he had every single year,” Mahomes said.

That’s for sure.

Brady played until he was 45 years old and was still very productive in his last season, throwing for 4,694 yards, 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022.

He also won a pair of Super Bowls in his 40s.

Mahomes obviously has a lot to achieve to even sniff Brady in terms of career accomplishments, but he understands that the less he focuses on that and the more he zeroes in on simply getting better, the better off he will be.

“All I can do is just try to continue to be the best me every single day that I have and have no regrets,” Mahomes said. “I actually heard Tom say this a while back and that was his goal was just to be the best version of Tom Brady he could be. All that other stuff kind of happens. All that other stuff kind of comes with it if you continue to work hard and continue to get great teammates around you. I’ve been blessed, man. I’ve been blessed to be in a great organization with great players, and if I can just continue to work the way I work, I’ll have no regrets about however my career ends.”

Mahomes is just 28 years old, so he has plenty of time to keep adding to his display case. In this league, however, anything can happen, so while Tom Brady may be in view, Patrick Mahomes is smart to just stay on track. Then, and only then, will he have a real chance of eclipsing the greatest quarterback to ever play the game.
