Kirk Cousins Would Be A Perfect Fit For The New York Jets

After another embarrassing loss for the New York Jets, should the franchise try to make a move for Kirk Cousins to save the season?

In Week 3, the New York Jets lost their second straight game of the season, as the New England Patriots were able to beat them by a score of 15-10. The loss has resulted in continuing frustrations for Jets fans, and perhaps players on the Jets as well.

During the loss, star wide receiver Garrett Wilson was seen visibly frustrated with how the offense was playing and he likely wasn’t the only person. As expected, much of the struggles for the Jets are being blamed on Zach Wilson.

In the loss, Wilson totaled just 157 passing yards and he completed just 50 percent of his passes. This is the third game of the season now that Wilson has yet to break 200 yards passing. Simply put, Wilson just doesn’t look like an NFL quarterback and the Jets need to make a change quickly to save the season.

With options at this point in the season being limited, one player who would be a perfect fit and logically makes sense for multiple reasons is Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings are off to an 0-3 start with some close losses and it seems like they might be getting ready to move in a different direction soon as a franchise.

Even though the Vikings are struggling, Cousins is still performing well and would be a massive upgrade for the Jets at the quarterback position. This season, Cousins has totaled 1,095 passing yards, nine touchdown passes, and two interceptions.

For the Jets, the team had a lot of optimism around this season not only because of Aaron Rodgers, but because of an extremely talented defense and some legitimate weapons on offense. Adding a player like Cousins to the team would instantly give the Jets a boost and could once again make them a playoff contender.

While it makes sense for the Jets this season, Cousins also is a free agent at the end of the year which works well for the Jets if Rodgers plans on coming back next season. Also due to him being a free agent, it likely would keep the trade costs down.

For the Vikings, they would be able to get some draft capital in return for a player who likely won’t be on the team next season anyway. If the Jets were to offer a few mid-round picks for Cousins, that certainly seems like a fair deal for both teams at this point.

The Jets will be playing the Kansas City Chiefs this week on Sunday Night Football, and as a sizable underdog, a potential embarrassment is coming for the team on a national stage. If the Jets don’t want to give up on the season with Wilson as the starter, a phone call to the Vikings for Kirk Cousins makes a lot of sense.
