Kyler Murray Seemingly Throws Shade At Cardinals’ Coaches

We have already seen two head coaching changes made during the 2022 season in the NFL as the Carolina Panthers fired Matt Rhule after Week 5 and the Indianapolis Colts fired Frank Reich after Week 9. Anyone who is trying to pinpoint the next head coach that could be on the move should look no further than to the desert. The Arizona Cardinals have been a disaster this season.

After earning a playoff spot as a wild card team following the 2021 campaign, the Cardinals are closer to being in last place in the NFC than qualifying for the postseason. The only team in the NFC with fewer wins than the Cardinals are their NFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Rams.

Arizona’s defense has been poor all season as they are 31st in points surrendered and their offense has been unable to make up for it. Despite some success earlier in Kliff Kingsbury’s tenure as head coach running an air raid offense, the Cardinals are struggling to find success on that side of the ball as well as they rank 17th in points and 19 in yardage.

Currently, with the fourth worst point differential in the NFL with a -57, things are not looking up for the Cardinals. To make matters worse, their franchise quarterback, Kyler Murray, doesn’t seem to be on the same page with the coaching staff.

We have seen Murray and Kingsbury get into some heated exchanges throughout the season and the former No. 1 overall pick threw his coaching staff under the bus again this weekend. During his press conference, he didn’t mince his words when asked about the team’s execution on a critical fourth down play.

Murray’s interception came in the second quarter on a deep shot to DeAndre Hopkins. It gave all of the momenta to the Los Angeles Chargers, who went downfield and scored a touchdown for the second straight possession, taking a 14-10 lead in the process.

Comments like that during press conferences are certainly not a good reflection on the job that the coaching staff is doing. After receiving a massive contract extension this offseason, it would be hard to imagine Murray going anywhere. Instead, it seems inevitable that a coaching change will occur.
