Raiders WR Davante Adams Can Join NFL History vs. Chiefs

Davante Adams and the Las Vegas Raiders are heading into a huge Week 5 matchup on Monday Night Football against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. While the Chiefs are heavily favored to win, the Raiders are a very talented team that should be able to give them a run for their money.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see how the Raiders’ offense looks tonight. Consistency has been a big issue through the first four games of the season. Adams, in particular, has been utilized very inconsistently by quarterback Derek Carr.

One intriguing milestone to keep in mind tonight for Adams will be the fact that he can join NFL history with five receptions. According to James Palmer of NFL Network, Adams would join Jerry Rice, Marvin Harrison, Calvin Johnson, and Larry Fitzgerald as the only receivers to catch 700+ passes and 75+ touchdowns over their first nine seasons.

In recent years, there would be absolutely zero question that Adams would catch five passes. That cannot be said this season.

So far in four games, Adams has racked up 26 receptions for 290 yards and three touchdowns. Those numbers aren’t bad, but they aren’t what many were expecting from him. In fact, back in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals, Adams caught just two passes for 12 yards and a touchdown.

There is no question that the Raiders need to make more of a point to get the ball in Adams’ hands. They have done well at that over the last two weeks, but will need to continue doing so. Adams is one of those players that can turn a game around and dominate an opposing defense.

Expect to see the Raiders come in and utilize Davante Adams early and often. He should have no problem joining the record books with the legendary names listed above.
