Lions Receive Massive Injury Update On Key Offensive Piece

The Detroit Lions got off to a very tough start this season losing six out of their first seven games. They had a high-scoring offense but the defense couldn’t stop a cold as they are still in last place in the NFL in yardage and points allowed. However, they are beginning to show signs of improvement and breakthrough.

Detroit is riding a three-game winning streak as the defense is beginning to show signs of life. In two out of the three wins, the Lions have surrendered 18 or fewer points, a huge step in the right direction.

The offense has remained rolling, scoring 31 points in back-to-back games. They have been able to accomplish this level of success on offense despite not being at full strength. Running back De’Andre Swift has missed three games and has been a part-time player when on the field. Free agent signing D.J. Chark has played in only four games and Amon-Ra St. Brown has also been sidelined for one game.

Not to mention tight end T.J. Hockenson was also traded to the Minnesota Vikings ahead of the deadline. Many people thought that could have been a sign of the Lions throwing in the towel a little bit, but that is the opposite.

Detroit is beginning to figure things out and find success on the field. They are going to be getting some more help on the offensive side of the ball soon, too, as wide receiver Jameson Williams is working his way back.

Williams, the No. 12 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has not yet played this season as he recovers from an ACL injury suffered during the College Football Playoff. His debut may not be far away as he was designated for return from the PUP list and will practice Monday.

Any time you can get a player of Williams’ caliber added to the lineup it is a huge boost for the team. Detroit has found plenty of success offensively but they will be even tougher to stop once he is acclimated, giving quarterback Jared Goff another excellent weapon at his disposal.

Last season with Alabama, Williams caught 79 passes in 15 games for 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns. The Lions are certainly hoping that he is the next great Crimson Tide receiver to make an impact at the next level as there are a bunch of them making huge impacts around the NFL.
