Jared Goff Continues to Grow
Sunday’s performance against the Los Angeles Chargers might have been Jared Goff’s best of his career. The third-year quarterback completed 29 of 36 attempts for 354 yards and three touchdowns. The offense was firing on all cylinders from the start of the game. The Los Angeles Rams scored 35 points through just three quarters. They also racked up 313 yards and held the ball for 20 minutes in the first half.

Based on McVay’s play-calling, the Rams game plan included attacking the Chargers secondary with intermediate and deep routes. According to Pro Football Focus, Goff was sharp throwing the ball downfield. He completed 9-of-11 pass attempts 10-plus yards downfield, including going 2-for-2 for 75 yards and a touchdown on throws 20-plus yards downfield.
Goff’s quick decision’s make it tough for defenses to home in on any particular receiver. Robert Woods, Brandin Cooks, Cooper Kupp and Todd Gurley each had 4+ catches and 50+ receiving yards. Five different receivers averaged 10+ yards per catch. That kind of production from that many weapons continuously results in 1v1 match-ups for Goff to exploit. The former 1st overall pick has an opportunity to become an MVP candidate if the Rams offense keeps up this pace.
