Los Angeles Rams: 3 Keys to Victory in Week 7 vs. 49ers

USA TODAY Sports

Limit the Big Plays

In the last couple of weeks, the Rams have allowed a multitude of 20+ yard plays. In Weeks 5 and 6, they allowed three touchdowns that were 20 or more yards.

That can’t happen against the 49ers, who have a guy like Marquise Goodwin at wide receiver. The 49ers love to take their shots downfield with him.

The Rams cannot allow the 49ers to continually hit on the deep ball, and must remain aware of where Goodwin is at all times. There aren’t many weapons on the 49ers offense, leaving Goodwin as a guy they will rely on as the season goes on.

Goodwin was a track athlete before the NFL, and is arguably the fastest player in the NFL (Maybe Tyreek Hill?)

These are the types of plays the Rams can’t permit.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Rams scheme to prevent any big plays from happening. Marcus Peters might be matched up on Goodwin for the majority of the game, but the whole secondary will need to be prepared for the big plays.

If the Rams can keep the 49ers’ big plays to a minimum, the Rams should dominate this game as expected.
