Jared Goff Needs to Improve in Cold Weather
Jared Goff is a California kid all the way to his roots. Goff was born and raised in Novato, California. From an early age, Goff was a San Francisco 49ers fan. Thus, the reason why he wears the number 16—to pay homage to Joe Montana.
In high school, he attended Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield, California. After graduating from there in 2012, he attended the University of California. Of course, after that, the Rams decided to take Goff with the number one pick in 2016.
For Goff, he hasn’t had much experience playing in a cold climate before. This season, he’s played against the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks in less than stellar weather. In those two contests, Goff completed just 37 of his 60 pass attempts.
He also threw for 522 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. In Week 14, he played another game in cold weather. It didn’t go well, as Goff completed 20 of his 44 attempts, 180 yards, and four interceptions.
The Bears deserve a ton of credit, but Goff has to be able to adjust to playing in cold weather. The good news is, Goff won’t need to play in cold weather again this season. In Weeks 15-17, the Rams face the Philadelphia Eagles at home, the Arizona Cardinals on the road, and the San Francisco 49ers at home.
Even come playoff time, the NFC playoffs will need to go through Los Angeles or New Orleans. The Super Bowl is also in Atlanta, where the Falcons play in a dome. Goff will definitely need to improve his ability to play in cold weather in the future.
