Los Angeles Rams: 3 Takeaways from Week 5 Win vs. Seahawks

Todd Gurley Just Keeps Rolling

Todd Gurley has gotten off to another fantastic start to the season. So far this year, he has mustered up 415 yards on 101 carries (4.1 yards per carry) and seven touchdowns on the ground.

Of course he’s a weapon in the passing game as well. He currently has 19 receptions for 230 yards and two touchdowns through the air.

Last season, Gurley finished with 1,305 yards and 13 touchdowns rushing. Gurley also had 64 receptions for 788 yards and six scores in the Rams aerial attack.

That was enough to get him the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year Award in 2017. He definitely could be in the conversation for MVP or Offensive Player of the Year, this year as well.

Against the Seahawks, Gurley had 22 rushes for 77 yards and three touchdowns. He also tacked on 36 yards on four receptions in the passing game.

The yards per carry may not be impressive, but Gurley still changes the whole dynamic of the game by his mere presence. When you have a dynamic RB like Gurley, he tends to change the outcome of games.

The offensive line has also been great this year, opening up running lanes all season. They also haven’t been too shabby protecting the QB, allowing just six sacks this season (best in NFL).

The good news for the Rams, they will face a team who just allowed 323 rushing yards to the New York Jets in Week 5. Gurley should be in for another good outing in Week 6 against the Broncos.
