Trade for Chris Harris Jr.
With the Denver Broncos in the midst of a rebuild, they could be willing to part ways with key guys on their current roster. Chris Harris Jr. could be one of them, along with Bradley Roby (another possible target for the Rams if Harris costs too much).
Chris Harris Jr. is one of the more underrated CBs in the NFL, always playing with a high-level no matter who else is on the Broncos defense. Harris has been labeled as one of the better slot-corners in the NFL, but deservedly so.
The Rams defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, has had experience coaching Harris when he was the defensive coordinator for the Broncos from 2015-2016.
In 2016 under Phillips, Harris received his one and only First-Team All-Pro selection. It’s no coincidence, as Phillips can usually get the best out of his personnel.
This season before the Rams faced the Broncos, Phillips stated that Harris was “one of the best players he’s ever coached”. That says a lot coming from a guy who’s been around the NFL for 30+ years now.
In his eight-year career, Harris has riled up 17 interceptions and 77 pass deflections. That type of production would definitely benefit the Rams going forward.
So far this year, Harris has graded as the third best CB according to Pro Football Focus. I understand Harris is a slot-corner for the most part and the Rams already have Nickell Robey-Coleman in that role.
Harris would likely work from the outside as the corner opposite Marcus Peters if he were acquired. That would be a very dynamic duo, giving Peters more opportunities to make plays like we are accustomed to seeing.
Good news is, Harris has played on the outside at CB in 32% of his snaps this season.
If the Rams intend on making it to the Super Bowl, they’d be wise to continue improving their current roster even further.
