Rams Named Best Fit For Superstar Pass Rusher In Free Agency

You might be surprised to know that the Los Angeles Rams totaled just 41 sacks this past season, which ranked in the bottom third of the NFL.

Why is that surprising? Because the Rams feature a rather impressive triumvirate of pass rushers in the form of Aaron Donald, Kobie Turner and Byron Young.

While none of them achieved double-digit sacks in 2023, they all logged at least eight, with Turner leading the way with nine.

The fact that Los Angeles still ranked toward the bottom of the league in sacks in spite of those three demonstrates just how little depth the team has at edge rusher.

That’s why Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report has listed the Rams as the best fit for Minnesota Vikings edge rusher Danielle Hunter, who is getting set to hit free agency.

Hunter is coming off of the best season of his career, as he just racked up 83 tackles, 16.5 sacks and four forced fumbles en route to his fourth Pro Bowl appearance.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was selected by the Vikings in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

After a solid rookie campaign in which he logged 33 tackles and six sacks, Hunter broke out during his sophomore year, rattling off 56 tackles and 12.5 sacks.

Then, in 2018 and 2019, Hunter posted 14.5 sacks in back-to-back seasons, earning Pro Bowl selections both times.

Overall, Hunter has achieved double-digit sacks on five occasions in his career and has established himself as one of the best pass rushers in football.

As a result, Hunter will get paid handsomely this offseason, and Davenport projects that Los Angeles will give him a three-year, $63 million deal that features $41.5 million in guaranteed money.
