Miami Dolphins: 3 Takeaways From Week 4 Loss vs Patriots

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Miami is Still in First Place

In true Miami Dolphins fashion, they were taken to the woodshed by the New England Patriots. Again. It seems to happen every year when the team goes to Foxboro. It seems like it’s been forever since Miami walked out of that place with a win. They’ll have to wait another year to try again.

After a loss like Sunday’s, it’s easy for fans to feel dejected. It’s easy to feel like this is just “the same old Dolphins”. But try to keep this loss in perspective. Step back from the ledge for a second and remember, Miami is still in first place in the division. The season’s first quarter has wrapped up, and the Miami Dolphins are division leaders. Yes, this was a bad loss. Yes, they have a negative point differential. No, the way they’ve been winning isn’t sustainable over a long season. But for now, none of that matters.

Miami was in first place coming into Sunday’s game, and they’re still in first place after it. They’ll head into Cincinnati as a first-place team. That’s something to be celebrated. This is a young team; a growing team. There are going to be some lumps along the way. Relax, recover, and remember “it’s on to Cincinnati.”
