Miami Dolphins Connected As Potential Future Suitor For Dak Prescott

The Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys are teams that seem to be headed in different directions right now.

The Cowboys are a proud franchise that hasn’t won the Super Bowl championship or even reached the NFC Championship Game since the 1995 season. They have been one of the NFL’s most talented teams over the last few years, but they have nothing to show for it.

Quarterback Dak Prescott usually plays well in the regular season (late last season, he was momentarily a leading MVP candidate), but he always seems to shrink during the playoffs. He’s entering the final year of his contract, and some are wondering if 2024 could be his Cowboys farewell.

Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins are a team on the rise that has one of the league’s most explosive offenses. They have a productive young quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa who is also due for a contract extension, and while it seems the Dolphins want to keep him around, one can never be totally sure.

Former Super Bowl-winning wide receiver Plaxico Burress said on “The Carton Show” that not only will 2024 be Prescott’s final season in Dallas but that if Dallas misses the playoffs, Prescott will leave and join the Dolphins.

“If the Cowboys do not make the playoffs, Dak Prescott will be the quarterback of the Miami Dolphins.”

Although Tagovailoa has seemingly proven himself over the last year or two, plenty of people around the league have taken shots at him and claimed he isn’t capable of being a true franchise quarterback.

While he led everyone with 4,624 passing yards while also putting up 29 touchdown passes and a 69.3 percent completion rate last year, Miami had lots of trouble beating teams with winning records. It ended up with an 11-6 record, but it promptly got pulverized in the wild-card round of the playoffs by the Kansas City Chiefs.

In that game, Tagovailoa completed just 20 of 39 passes for 199 yards.

Prescott also played poorly in Dallas’ wild-card loss to the Green Bay Packers. If he doesn’t rectify his problems in big games, perhaps the Cowboys will be better off without him.

They do have a quarterback behind him in Trey Lance who is thought to have plenty of potential, but he hasn’t played a ton of organized football dating back to college.

Dak Prescott may not be the man to deliver the Miami Dolphins their first Super Bowl championship since the 1973 season, but at least he would be a more proven signal-caller than the 26-year-old Tagovailoa.
