You wouldn’t think any Dallas Cowboys players would be happy with what transpired in their loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon, but linebacker Micah Parsons has managed to find a silver lining.
While Parsons obviously isn’t satisfied with a defeat, he thinks his team played pretty well.
“We know we played good enough to win that game,” Parsons said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “But we didn’t. That’s just how the dice rolls sometimes. Sometimes you play good enough and good enough isn’t good enough. That’s just the reality of the game. I feel like we have even more confidence now. I feel like everybody had us out and everyone was praising this Eagles team. Obviously, we gave them their best fit. I’m not even going to spit fuel on the fire. We’ll see them again in four weeks.”
Parsons has a point.
The Cowboys actually outgained the Eagles in total offensive yards 406 to 292. They also had 27 first downs to Philadelphia’s 20. Plus, Dallas actually held a 17-14 lead at halftime.
However, Philadelphia simply made more plays when it counted and was able to build a 28-17 advantage over the Cowboys in the third quarter. Dallas scored a late touchdown to make the score 28-23, but the two-point conversion failed, and that ended up being the final score of the day.
Parsons logged nine tackles and 1.5 sacks in the loss and has totaled 31 tackles, 7.5 sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and two passes defended this season.
The Cowboys fell to 5-3 with the loss, dropping them two-and-a-half games behind the Eagles for first place in the NFC East division.
As Parsons said, Dallas will see Philadelphia again later in the season, as the two heated rivals will have a date in Texas on Dec. 10.
The Cowboys will take on the New York Giants next weekend.
