Minnesota Vikings: 3 Best Performances from Week 1 vs. 49ers

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Kirk Cousins, Quarterback

In his first week as the starting quarterback in Minnesota, Kirk Cousins showed why the team went out and spent big money to bring him in. Cousins isn’t a superstar, but he is one of the most consistently solid quarterbacks in the league and that is exactly what the Vikings have been needing for years.

Cousins completed 20 of his 36 pass attempts for 244 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. He also ran for 26 yards on four carries. Those numbers show why he deserves to be on this list.

Minnesota is widely viewed as a serious Super Bowl contender this season. Adding Cousins took them from a team that could compete with Green Bay for the NFC North to one of the favorites in the conference, and rightfully so.

If Week 1 is any indication, Cousins is prepared to have one of his biggest and likely his most efficient season.
